Psalm 68:9 in the Amplified Bible reads, “You visit the earth and saturate it with water; You greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; You provide them with grain when you have so prepared the earth.”
I’ve been thinking a lot about the earth, seeing how dry everything is around here. We have not had rain for almost two months, which is unusual for this area of British Colombia. All the lawns are brown and waiting for the rain to get the water they need to rejuvenate and be refreshed again. I have also noticed that the drought doesn’t affect the weeds. They stand tall among the parched grass and do not need the rain.
That is also the way it is with us: If we don’t daily drink of the water of life and keep our spirit saturated with the River of Life, then before we realize it, weeds start growing in our garden, and the life we had will slowly start to become dry. We used to sing, “I’m drinking at the springs of Living Water, happy now am I, my soul is satisfied.”
The river of God is full of water so let us drink deep and keep our body, soul, and spirit filled full of the springs of living water. Especially in these days when the whole world seems to be in turmoil, and we don’t know what is coming upon us next. But we know God has it all under control and our faith and trust are in the Living God.
So be encouraged and continue looking to the Lord as you draw fresh “water” from His springs.
